About the Natural Aroma

Our Nilotica shea butter is raw, unrefined, and made with no added fragrance. Because Nilotica (East African) shea comes from a different variety of shea tree than the more common West African shea butter, it naturally carries a mild, nutty aroma from the shea nut itself, this isn't a fragrance we've added, and it isn't a sign anything is wrong with your order.

If you've used shea butter before, you'll likely find this scent mild. If it's your first time, it may be more noticeable than you expect at first,  it fades quickly once the butter is applied and worked into skin.

New to Secrets of Uganda? Consider starting with our 10ml or 50ml trial size before committing to a full jar, especially if you're sensitive to scent.

 Non-Returnable Items

For hygiene and safety, we can't accept returns, refunds, or exchanges on opened or used shea butter, including returns based on the natural aroma alone. This is standard across the skincare industry, and it's how we guarantee every jar we ship is genuinely untouched.

Unopened Products

Unopened, unused product in its original packaging can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery for a refund or store credit. Original shipping charges aren't refundable, and return shipping is the customer's responsibility.

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Orders

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or wrong, email us within 7 days with a photo. We'll cover return shipping if we need the item back at all, and send a free replacement or full refund, this one's on us.

Starting a Return

Email with your order number and reason for the return. We'll confirm eligibility and next steps within 2 business days.
